Suva lies on the southeastern side of Viti Levu. It is the commercial and political center in the Fijian Islands. It is the largest city in Fiji and the largest city in the South Pacific Islands as well. A number of local companies are located here as well as international companies investing in the South Pacific.

Suva being the central business centre has not eliminated a good number of attractions for tourists around the cities and its nearby villages. There are varied activities you can do. Shop. Dine. Experience.

Suva is a bustling city with a number of transportation options for visitors. An extensive road system makes it a good transportation option to rent a car from many car rental companies. Public transport is also widely available with the bus companies that will take you to almost anywhere in Suva. Taxis are also popular with numerous taxi cabs found on every corner of the city.

If you like to travel around Fiji from Suva, the Nasouri Airport is only 20 minutes away where you can catch international flights and domestic flights to most locations in Fiji on board Air Fiji or SunAir.

Being the commerce center of the Fiji Islands, You will find a mixture of business travelers, tourists, conference groups and government officials from overseas all around the city.

If you plan to go on holiday, you should not miss visiting Suva whether alone or with family and friends. Suva has the best and finest beachfront resorts and hotels that will make your vacation a luxurious one.

The Annandale Apartments offer quality and comfortable accommodation at affordable prices. The Colonial Lodge will be your way away from home in the heart of Suva City. The Holiday Inn Suva is ideally located downtown with Harbour views. JJs on the Park Hotel have luxury rooms with amenities to suit businesss travelers’ needs. The Peninsula International Hotel homes the Makosoi Restaurant with great Ala Carte Menus reasonably priced. The Raintree Lodge Eco-Tourist Resort is the first fully designed Ecotourism lodge in the Fiji Islands. Suva also has Budget and Bed & Breakfast accommodations if you prefer spending most of your time and money outdoors.

Suva is a great place for weddings and honeymoons. There are also other activities for the adventurous person. You can go diving, fishing, surfing, and you can play golf at the resorts. Make sure you see a local rugby match if possible.

See the Suva Municipal Market Right in Suva town where you can find fruit and vegetable markets. The Municipal Handicraft Centre to the left of the fruit and vege markets are the Suva handicraft markets. There are rows and rows of Fijian wood carvings, straw goods, and Fijian handicraft souvenirs where you can also barter with shop owners for a good price.

The Indian influence on the Fijian islands is evident in the food. The Indian food in this town is authentic, tasty, and of good value. Go to Singh’s Curry house where you will find cheap and deliciously authentic Fijian curry you can eat or takeaway.

You can try a restaurant inside one of the fancier Suva hotels like the Tanoa Plaza or Holiday Inn. For a quick practical meal in pleasant atmosphere, go to the food court upstairs at the Harbour Centre and you can pick a dish that you like among local and Chinese dishes. Sit and enjoy the view or get a sack of fish chips and stay at the waterfront or the botanical garden. The Asiana is a good Indian Restaurant. Suva has McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
