Located right in the middle of the Mamanuca Islands, just 20 kilometres west of Nadi, Castaway Island has the privilege of having stunning white sand beaches and is encircled by pristine coral reefs. Excellent snorkelling is available straight off the beach with a huge array of marine life no matter which way you swim. Castaway’s extraordinary landscape offers the obligatory lush tropical gardens and swaying palms but also rises to a high central peak that is perfect for exploring via a bush walking trail. When you arrive at the top of the mountain, there is a bonus of the most breathtaking views of the surrounding islands and reefs. The real estate at Castaway is amazing!

Castaway Island (known also by its native name Qalito) was the first resort established in the Mamanuca Islands over 43 years ago, so we got the pick of the real estate! Individual free standing bures (bungalows) are dotted along the foreshore or 
throughout the gardens. All 66 bures have traditional Fijian style thatched roofs and high vaulted ceilings, lined with hand painted tapa fabric, native to the South Pacific. All bures are air-conditioned and fan cooled and have one king bed with most also having two single beds in their configuration. There is a sliding privacy screen door between the two bedrooms.

Castaway does not have a chiefly village on the island. All of the staff are employed from the mainland and live as one big Castaway family in fantastic staff quarters. Working at Castaway is highly regarded, so we have very little staff turnover and the guests love coming back year after year to meet the same faces.
