sonaisali_1Sonaisali Island Resort is an island escape in the beautiful South Pacific oceans with the busy world only a 3 minute boat ride across the lagoon from the main island of Viti-Levu.

Here, you will feel the luxury of privacy on the Sonaisali Island Resort without feeling marooned. You can control your vacation by simply choosing to unwind or relax or you may want to explore many exciting attractions and activities both on island and at the mainland. You can even see the neighboring Mamanuca Islands. On Sonaisali, if you are doing nothing, it’s because that is how you want it to be.

The resort opened in 1992 with major additions that took place in 1998 and 1999. More improvements were obtained in 2002. The resort is stylish both in design and execution. The native timbers, plantation shutters and Fijian architecture match modern interiors designed to please even the most discerning guest.

The resort comprises of 123 rooms and Bures, pronounced as “boo-rays”, serve as Sonaisali’s accommodation with 32 beachfront hotel rooms, 3 beachfront family bures, 42 ocean-view bures, and 46 beachfront spa bures.

Every room and bure is complete with spacious interiors, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, television systems, satellite TV, DVDs, double sinks and hairdryer in the bathroom. The rooms also have in-room safes, tea and coffee facilities, iron and iron board, king or twin queen configuration and a fully stocked mini bar.

sonaisali_2An emphasis on food has produced memorable menus that are influenced by the best Asia-Pacific, Indian, and European cuisines. The resort’s international Chefs produce the most innovative and fresh menu options with only the finest ingredients. The resort also cradles a hydroponic garden and farm that provides its kitchens with fresh tropical fruits and a large selection of garden fresh vegetables on a daily basis. Fresh ingredients are also flown in daily from Australia and New Zealand ensuring an extensive selection of continuously evolving menus to better fit the taste buds of visitors.

Warm weather encourages informal alfresco dining. Most meals can be enjoyed poolside or in the resort’s air conditioned fine dining restaurant. 24 hour room service is another option.

Of course, romantic dinners under the stars can be achieved while being serenaded by the lapping waves of the South Pacific Ocean at the sand’s embrace.

sonaisali_3Sonaisali portrays a dedication to total relaxation, enjoyment, and customer service. Swimming, tennis, shopping excursions, village trips, horse riding, sailing, fishing, jet skiing, paintball, surfing, and daily snorkeling trips are arranged to the outer reef. Dive trips are operated daily from the resort marina with 25 spectacular dive sites. The complimentary Kids Club operates daily from 9am to 9pm keeping kids busy with entertainment and learning. Fijian cultural entertainment including authentic firewalking and traditional Meke are performed weekly. Evening entertainment moves upbeat courtesy of an in-house live band and serenaders.

Do it all or do nothing at all where the possibilities are endless. You can laze among the gardens beside the lagoon style pool, snorkel amid a blizzard of tiny reef fish species, you may spend time at the health and beauty care centre too. Cruise through the lovely Mamanuca Islands. At night, dine beneath a torchlit bure before your stroll under a billion stars.

We are return visitors to the Sonaisali Island Resort and I can honestly say we have never been disappointed with this resort. Our Ocean View room was clean, comfortable and pretty close to everything. It is a big resort, but the grounds are beautiful and there’s lots to do and see. This is first and foremost a great family resort.

My husband and I have high expectations when we go away. Being our first overseas holiday it was quite daunting, until we got to the Resort! The staff had their biggest smiles and greeted us with “Bula”. All the staff were wonderful and so friendly.

After a week at Mana Island Resort (terrible food, resort needs updating) Sonaisali was paradise meets civilization. Oceanview bure was nice and very quiet, clean and had everything we needed except the hairdryer was broke and there was no umbrella in the room.

I read so many bad reviews on this hotel so I was expecting the worst. But it was alot better than I expected, the staff are beautiful, the food was nice, and the scenery was great. Although they are abit pricey you go on a holiday to spend money and I wold do it again.

My husband and I have just come back from Sonaisali and we loved it. We aren’t terribly picky people and just having a nice view of the ocean and just being able to lie down and relax in the sun was great for us.

We recently came back from Sonaisali and loved it. After reading other reviews I didn’t want to stay there but was unable to change. We went with an open mind and were glad we did. We had a hotel room overlooking the beachfront. its an awsome experience.

We stayed at sonaisali resort for a friends wedding – fantastic stay. Our beach front hotel room was lovely and close to the pool, where we spent most of our time. We have a 2 year old who practically lived in the pool, which was great for us as it was close to the restaurant and the bar.

  13. Christopher says:

The Bures are great, I wouldn’t recommend a standard room. Staff are SO friendly and willing to go out of their way for you, kids club was GREAT, wonderful pool, delicious food, great bars, lots of really fun activities and staff to teach you about their culture as well as their language.

We have just returned from 10 days at Sonaisali, having seen a terrific deal advertised; we left 2 days later! I had done no research on the resort but wanted time in the sun. We have been to Fiji many times and stayed in many resorts and on a number of islands, but my family rated this the best holiday in our life time.

  15. Paul says:

We loved this hotel so much. We were re-thinking our booking due to reading bad reviews on this hotel. Thank goodness we didn’t! This is a really beautiful hotel I don’t know where to start! The staff are fantastic and friendly, greeting you with ‘bula’ when they see you. The rooms are beautiful they just got refurbished.

It was our first time in Fiji and Sonaisali was just a nice little island, not far from Nadi airport. We were there only for the Easter long weekend (4 nights) so didn’t want to be far away and this was just perfect. Staffs were extremely friendly and helpful – the welcome was fantastic with fruit cocktail & big smiles, i have a wonderful time over there.

My husband and I traveled to Fiji for our daughter’s wedding. I must admit, I was a little under excited, especially after reading the reviews on here about Sonaisali resort. I went with the thought that it was my daughter’s wedding and that was a good enough reason to be there. Well, we were so pleasantly surprised! We loved Sonaisali.

  18. George says:

Just loved the place! I too was worried after reading some of the feedback but we were very happy with the stay and the whole experience. Great place for our kids (aged 10 & 12)… Kids Club staff were fantastic with our youngest boy (the oldest thought he was too old to go!) and the dive team also very patient. we loved the place.

  19. Kenneth says:

We have just arrived back from Sonaisali Island after spending 4 days there without the children. We went with the intention of lying by the pool and relaxing which is exactly what we did. The food was great but on the expensive side, we stayed in the beachfront spa bure which was wonderful.

Just a quick note to say how much Matthew and I enjoyed our Beautiful Wedding at Sonaisali Island Resort. The Resort’s Wedding Co-Ordinator Lena went out of her way to make our Special Day truly memorable. Her attention to detail and personalized service was far more than we could ever have expected.
